Everyone loves a home grown tomato!
During this 2 1/2 hour workshop growing tomatoes will be de-mystified!
You'll learn about the history of tomatoes, how tomatoes are grown commercially, and why homegrown taste so much better. You'll find out how to choose from the hundreds of tomato seeds available, and learn all about the different types and uses of tomatoes.
You will plant some tomato seeds, pot some on, learn to grow them on, and care for your tomato plants throughout the season.
We'll look at the best types of growing containers, composts and feeds. I'll show you how to 'pinch out' and prune tomatoes effectively, and also to increase your plants during the season.
By the end of the workshop you'll be able to identify common tomato pests, diseases & problems and how to rectify them.
You will go home with tomato plants for you to look after and enjoy. There'll also be some tomato recipes which you can try using your own tomatoes.
